Grünes Siliziumkarbidpulver wird aus großen, kristallinen Siliziumkarbidblöcken ausgewählt, die zerkleinert, in einer vertikalen Kugelmühle zur Partikelformung gebracht, beizend befeuchtet und hydraulisch klassifiziert werden. Nach dem Trocknen bei hohen Temperaturen kommt es zu natürlicher Ablagerung. Es hat eine stabile Qualität, eine gute Kristallisation und eine hohe Oberflächenreinheit. Es enthält keine großen Partikel, weniger Feinpartikel und hat eine konzentrierte Partikelgrößenverteilung. Es hat eine hohe Schleifleistung und ist für verschiedene Schleifvorgänge geeignet. Die Oberfläche des bearbeiteten Werkstücks ist gleichmäßig und weist keine Kratzer auf.

Grünes Siliziumkarbid wird aus Petrolkoks und Kieselsäure als Hauptrohstoffen hergestellt, wobei Salz als Zusatzstoffe hinzugefügt und bei hohen Temperaturen in einem Widerstandsofen geschmolzen wird. Es ist grün kristallin, spröde und scharf und hat eine gewisse thermische und elektrische Leitfähigkeit. Die mikroskopische Form ist ein sechseckiger Kristall, die Mohshärte von Siliziumkarbid beträgt 9,3, die Mikrohärte beträgt 2940–3300 kg/mm² und die Härte von Knoop beträgt 2670–2815 kg/mm², was höher ist als bei Korund in Schleifmitteln und nur übertroffen von Diamant, kubischem Bornitrid und Borkarbid. Die Dichte wird allgemein mit 3,20–3,25 g/cm³ angenommen. Die natürliche Schüttdichte von Siliziumkarbid-Schleifmitteln liegt zwischen 1,2–1,6 g/cm³ und das spezifische Gewicht beträgt 3,20–3,25 g/cm³.
